Here are five tips for time management:

1. Decide what you want to achieve:

Until you know what you want to achieve how will you know when you’ve got there?
In order to manage your day more effectively become very clear about what you want to get done during each day. Not only each day that what you want to achieve by the end of the week, by the end of the month, and by the end of the year.
2. Get organised.

If your life and your possessions are somewhat chaotic and you feel as though you never have enough time to do what you really want to do then it’s really important to spend a designated amount of time getting much more organised.
Make sure that your workspace is clear except for whatever you need in order to get on with the job you have set yourself. Put things away and keep similar things together so that it’s easy to find them again. Throw away papers and other things which you no longer need. Become better at “letting things go”. You will find that when the space around you becomes more organised that is so does your thinking and you will be able to do much more in a short space of time and be able to do some of the things that you feel at the moment that you don’t have time for.

3. Keep focused.

If you’re one of those people who regularly is distracted by the task in hand, then it’s important to train yourself to break your tasks down into smaller steps so that you can finish one step at a time and gradually move forward to achieving all your goals.

4. Vary what you do.

A great way to keep motivated is to vary the sort of activity you are involved in,  during the day. You may find, for example, that changing the sort of task you do every hour is an effective way to get several things done during the day. This works best if you change from a desk-based activity to doing something which involves more physical activity.

5. Acknowledge  what you get done

Some people get frustrated when they feel they are not achieving very much. However, if you devise a way to make a note when you finish each step of your project then you will be much more aware of how you are progressing. This might be ticking items on the list.
