If you want to truly find more time and do more of those things in your life which you never have time to do at the moment then here is what you must do:
Define precisely what you could achieve in a specified amount of time. For example ‘If I found an extra hour each day I would keep my accounts up to date’ or ‘If I found an extra day each month I would go and visit all the Art exhibitions in my area.’ What would you do if you had another hour in the day? Don’t stop at another hour, ask yourself what would you do in two or three hours a day, or even a whole extra day each month to do those things you don’t have time to do now.
If you had the time to do those things what benefits would you experience as a result?
- How would your self esteem improve?
- Would you be aware of better health and well-being as a result?
- What might you notice in relation to the way you approach work?
- What would you notice about your finances?
Make a plan to include all the steps you need to go through in order to reach your goal. The plan could be a timetable of what you will do during each day or how much you will complete by the end of the week or month.
If you know what you want to achieve during the month then you are most likely to accomplish this.
When you also know what you hope to get done during each day then you will gradually move forwards towards completing your goal.
Make sure you give yourself a bit of leeway in the day to day plan because sometimes life takes over and for one reason or another you may not achieve what you planned on some days. Leeway gives you the chance to catch up on other days when you are getting things done much more quickly.
Take action to follow through your plans. It’s quite a common experience that people know what they want, know precisely what they must do to achieve it and yet remain stuck because they don’t actually take the action they need to and just do it.
Ask yourself what’s stopping you or what obstacles are in your way and then get rid of your fears or whatever you believe is stopping you because mostly it is your beliefs, your thoughts, about what might happen which stop you and beliefs can change.
One of my struggles with this sort of approach is that it can easily become over-regimeted – and leisure time turns into work.
Having written that there is a balance to be reached and am indeed writing on a Sunday morning where I have ideas as to what to do although am also enjoying a rleaxing morning.
Thank for the tips.
