Even though you know exactly what you want  achieve you may find that it’s a common experience that days or even weeks go by and those things just don’t actually get  done.

Yet there are five easy ways to achieve what you want.
1. Write your goal:
When you write something down it helps to clarify exactly what you want and you can also specify by when and how you will know when you have achieved your goal. It’s too easy to keep on changing your goal when you don’t have it in writing.

2. Break the goal  into smaller chunks:

When a goal is too large to achieve in one session it is easy to put off starting any part of it. Almost every thing can be reduced to smaller more manageable steps.

3. Complete the first step today:

Just having defined your small steps may bot be enough to get it done if you delay actually starting.  Make sure that whatever you decide is the first step, that  it can be done very simply, right now.  it could be something like making a phone call or getting the equipment you need ready to use the next day.  It’s too common to say ‘I’ll do it when I have the time.

4. Do small steps regularly until you reach your stated goal:

If you fail to take the small steps you’ve defined then  you will continue to fail to achieve what you want. You have to establish a routine of doing a little bit towards your goal each and every day. However little you do nevertheless these small steps will bring you nearer to, and eventually achieving your desired outcome.

5. Set new goals:

When you finally get to where you want to be, congratulate yourself but don’t lapse into inactivity and procrastination again. Instead do two things: first  look at what worked and what didn’t work for you. This might be the time of day when you were able to do more, or the amount of time spent on the task which worked best for you. People differ: some are most productive and efficient first thing in the day and others late at night.  Learn from this and make appropriate adjustments when you work on your next goal. The second thing to do is to set more goals. There are always more things to do and achieve. Don’t be complacent about your achievement with one thing, just get going on the next and bigger goals without further delay.
