If you are unhappy about the way your life is panning our for you and you are really wanting to make changes then it can be really helpful to work with a mentor or a coach or someone who gives you non-judgmental support and encouragement to reach those goals.

However if you find yourself not making much progress because you want to get it right this time please take note of the lessons I’ve learned when I’ve made changes in my life.

Lesson 1: You won’t necessarily be perfect at first.

However hard you want and try to ‘get it right’ and not make mistakes there will always be some  parts of what you do which don’t work out the way you want them to.

You can be as careful as you possibly can and consider all the possible outcomes of what you plan to do and yet there is always a chance that something unexpected might happen and so your plans take a new turn.

Lesson 2: There are always some people who think they know what is ‘best’ for you and it is often not what you have in mind.

People mean well when they say ‘ be careful’ or ‘if I was you I wouldn’t do that’ or ‘have you thought of all the terrible things which will happen if you do that?’

Of course, especially if the people offering their advice are near and dear to you, it is important to listen to them and consider their advice. However in the end it is your life’s journey and you are the one making it and  experiencing the mistakes and enjoying the consequences of your actions.

Lesson 3: Sometimes you have to go ahead and do something which others have warned you won’t work.

When you do you show that  you are comfortable with yourself and know what it’s like to try and fail. When you do that and follow your innermost wishes you may or may not succeed in your quest. However there are lessons you will learn on your journey and there is always a possibility of success too.

Lesson 4: The unexpected can happen and bring you the greatest rewards.

When you are open to new experiences and willing to follow suggestions which appeal to you then exciting and unexpected new worlds can open up for you so that your life’s journey can take you along pathways you hadn’t explored before.
